Hydro cooler is widely used in fast cooling of gourd and fruit as its obvious benefits:

1. Quickly remove field heat and cool down product temperature. Improve fruit hardness, reduce mechanical hurt caused by following operations.

2. Control physiology change after harvest. Reduce breathing and sugar lose and flavor change;

3. Reduce microorganism contamination and nutrition losing;

4. Low investment costs and simple structure, low running costs;

5. Wide application range, no weight losing after cooling, beneficial for keeping freshness.

 

Gourd and fruit need to be cooled below 10 within 1 hour from harvest moment, then put into cold room or cold chain transport to keep quality and extend shelf life.

Two types of hydro cooler, one is cold water immersing, the other is cold water spraying. Cold water is able to take away heat of fruit nut and pulp quickly as big specific heat capacity.

Water souce can be chilled water or ice water. Chilled water is produced by water chiller unit, ice water is mixing of normal temprature water and piece ice.
